I have the muscle disease CIAP (chronic idiopathic axonal poly-neuropathy). This is a muscle disease characterised by sensory disturbances. Still, very little is still known about the disease. CIAP is chronic and slowly gets worse. The only thing research has shown is that it is a disease of the 'wiring' (the axon) of the nerves in arms and legs. The nerves no longer transmit the signals to the muscles and brain properly. As a result I have a lot of pain when standing and walking, and am always tired.
The exact cause of CIAP is not yet known. That is why I want to raise (a lot of) money for the Princess Beatrix Muscle Fund, so that more research can be made into the causes of muscle diseases.
