A voyage with a purpose

As a boy of 17, I lived in Italy for a year in 1976-77 staying with the Pennone family in Turin. It was my first trip abroad, by train from Amsterdam to Firenze (Florence) for a two-week language camp in the town of San Gimignano. For years I have wanted to make that trip again, but then with a special challenge and purpose. Approaching the challenge walking or cycling is unfortunately no longer possible due to my muscle disease.
The goal is to raise money for the Princess Beatrix Muscle Fund (45 km/h), so I started looking at other possibilities. By campervan, car or motorbike is too easy. So I opted for a very different special way: with a Aixam D-truck and camping the whole route Amsterdam - Florence and back. The plan is to leave on May 3, 2025 and to travel to Italy via via Belgium and France. This website will keep you updated with events.
